Playa de Palma
Playa de Palma
Playa de Palma, lying just 4 kilometres from the centre of Palma and two from the airport, is one of the busiest and liveliest beaches, full of visitors who come to Mallorca for their holidays. Both the characteristics of the beach itself (4 kilometres long with an average width of 50 metres), and the huge range of entertainment and leisure opportunities offered by the local shops and businesses make Playa de Palma a unique destination in the heart of the Mediterranean.
Moreover the proximity of the capital allows visitors to access a rich range of cultural and sporting activities, shows, guided tours and excursions, both in the streets of Palma itself and around the rest of the island, a paradise indeed.
Business tourism is also present, due to the large qualitative leap experienced by the hotels in the area, making Playa de Palma an ideal place in which to hold all kinds of events, incentive or group trips, congresses, etc. as well as a good choice of options for spending a few days relaxing.
The wide range of sporting opportunities available enables visitors to practice their favourite sport, with the emphasis above all on nautical activities, cycling and golf. Finally, the local gastronomy, delicious and varied, is another attraction you will be able to try and enjoy in the restaurants, both in the Playa de Palma area and all over the island.
Between Palma and Llucmajor
Playa de Palma stretches between the municipalities of Palma and Llucmajor and lends its name to the tourist area that includes the population centre of S’Arenal de Llucmajor at its easternmost tip.
The total length of the beach is 4600 m, with an average width of 50 m; all along it is densely occupied and equipped with all the services a beach set in clearly urban surroundings could wish for. With its fine, white sand, the beach has lifeguard and seaside resort services, kiosks, showers, telephones, wastepaper bins, sunbeds, sunshades, rental of water sports equipment, beach cleaning services, etc. At its easternmost tip lies the marina of the Club Náutico de S’Arenal de Llucmajor.
Public transport is available from Palma via the different bus lines that depart from the train and bus station in Plaza España or the numerous stops that are to be found all over the city of Palma. And one can reach Playa de Palma from Llucmajor, too, by means of the continuous network of buses and coaches.
It is impossible to feel bored in Playa de Palma. During the day, as well as the beach and the terraces of the bars, one can stroll round the weekly market or ride on the tourist train which offers another vision of the beach or – why not?- reserve a few hours for cultural activities.
At night, the wide range of discotheques, terraces and pubs in Playa de Palma ensure you will always find your favourite atmosphere. Your music, the company you like best, your favourite drink. And if you prefer the more traditional diversions, there is no lack of popular fiestas in Playa de Palma. Open-air summer parties or the Carnival in February – any time is good for celebrating and enjoying a party with music, dancing and fun in the streets. There are also other cultural activities such as the concerts in the "Un Invierno en Mallorca" programme.
